Guided tours to Snaefellsnes
Only a 2h drive from Reykjavik, the Snæfellsnes peninsula is situated northwest of Reykjavik and comprises a world of diversity. Words like “magical” and “magnificent” come to mind when you think of Snæfellsnes. You will visit friendly towns and villages, spectacular mountains, and during summer season one is able to see a multitude of bird species nesting on treacherous cliffs.
Snæfellsnes has been called a miniature Iceland because of the many iconic natural features that can be found here – craters, waterfalls, glaciers, fumaroles, basalt cliffs, and more.
The tour takes you through the Búðahraun lava field, the coast between the small fishing villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar. The Djúpalónssandur beach is a beautiful wild black sand and pebble beach with amazing volcanic rocks rising from the beach, also located inside the park.
It is said that the Snæfellsjökull glacier has mystical powers and that it is the gateway to another world. It is also the setting of Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth”.
Duration: 12-13 hours.
