Welcome to My Iceland Guide
My Iceland Guide is a small and personal team offering private day tours in Iceland with a relaxed, knowledgeable, and well-paced approach.
We aim to give our guests not only a memorable day, but also a stronger sense of Iceland — its landscapes, geology, history, and culture. Our approach is thoughtful, flexible, and personal, with care given to both the experience itself and the people travelling with us.
Jórunn Rothenborg is the founder and lead guide of My Iceland Guide and a licensed tourist guide and driver-guide through the Icelandic Tourist Board.
Half Icelandic and half Danish, Jórunn brings both local insight and the perspective of someone who first came to Iceland from abroad. Having lived in Reykjavík for many years, she knows the city and the country with both familiarity and affection.
Her guiding style is warm, calm, and attentive, with an emphasis on helping guests experience Iceland in a way that feels genuine, comfortable, and well looked after.
Erlendur Birgisson (Eddi), is a licenced Mountain Guide and driver-guide with a great passion for Iceland‘s Highlands, mountains, and outdoors.
Eddi is a Civil Engineer, running his own Engineering company along with being active as a guide.
Eddi is also one of the chief Engineers with Iceland‘s Volunteer ICE-SAR International Rescue team which has given him a thorrough understanding of Natures forces whether in Iceland or abroad.
An Ironman, mountain climber, fisherman or a pure nature lover he certainly knows his native Iceland inside and out.
Alexander Erlendsson, actor from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, guide, driver-guide and mountain guide has been working in the tourist business since his early youth. He knows almost any corner of the country from his many tours around Iceland through the years and has a great passion for storytelling
Halldóra Markúsdóttir – actor from the Icelandic Film School, jogi and yoga teacher and guide.
Being a farmers daughter, Halldóra‘s love and understanding of the Icelandic nature has given her great understanding of Icelands at times wild but fascinating nature.

While Jórunn remains the main face of My Iceland Guide, we also work with trusted colleagues when needed. This allows us to stay personal and flexible while maintaining the same values at the heart of our work: care, professionalism, local knowledge, and a genuine love for Iceland.
